A variation of knowledge characteristics (presence, updating level, and source types) across demographic categories was expected according to evolutionary organisation theory, and was indeed observed. By comparing groups within and across demographic categories, and questioning further the relations, a colourful and valuable picture emerged. Positive relations are clearly observed in emerging patterns, for example, whilst Economic development is the objective with the lowest performance in all countries and nations, whilst training and equipping teams is the single most important demographic category for improving organisational knowledge and performance. The overall findings are interpreted first. Then the detailed findings are explored within groupings of demographic categories; geographic, organisational (section 5.2), financial, social, and technological (section 6.1). Then the knowledge artefacts’ source types and access levels are examined for their relationship with the presence and updating characteristics, and with performance (section 6.2). Within each demographic category, the presence and updating findings are summarised initially (objective 1) and are then related to performance (objective 2).

While reading this interpretation, it will be helpful to distinguish between the actual percentage values (findings) and the rate of variation between them as a percentage (comparisons). For example, in the presentation of performance percentages, two samples might each have values of 50.00% and 60.00% respectively, which is a 10.00% performance difference between them. But note that the rate of variation between them is a 20% increase ((60.00% - 50.00%) / 50.00%). To distinguish between actual values and their variation rate, actual observed values are shown with two decimal places (performances observed 50.00%, 60.00%, difference 10.00%), while the rate of variation is shown with no decimal places (20% variation from 50.00% to 60.00%).
